An Active Nest Deserves Some Space.
A wasp visiting the flowers isn’t always a problem. Regular traffic around a doorway, play area, or opening in your home is a different story.
Social wasps may defend their nests when disturbed, and some can sting repeatedly. Give a suspected nest room while we take a closer look.
We identify the wasp, locate the nesting area where possible, and consider how close it is to people and pets. That helps us recommend an appropriate response—because different wasps call for different approaches.

Common Wasps in Central Texas
Paper Wasps
Their open, umbrella-shaped nests often appear beneath eaves, porch ceilings, and railings. Paper wasps can defend their nests when people or pets get too close.
Yellowjackets
These social wasps often nest underground or in concealed cavities. Repeated traffic through a small opening may point to a colony that shouldn’t be disturbed.
Mud Daubers
These solitary wasps build mud nests on sheltered surfaces. They rarely act aggressively, so identification helps determine whether treatment is needed.
Cicada Killers
Large size doesn’t always mean a big threat. These solitary wasps dig burrows in soil, and males cannot sting. Females generally sting only when handled or trapped.
HOW IT WORKS
A Smarter Approach
To Wasp Control

Inspect
We identify the wasps, investigate nesting activity, and assess how close it is to the spaces you use.

Treat
We recommend targeted treatment based on the species, nest location, and activity around people and pets.

Protect
We point out openings and sheltered spots worth addressing once active nesting has been resolved.
Signs Wasps May Be Nesting Nearby
Keep your distance from suspected nests and leave them undisturbed until they’ve been assessed.
Why Do Wasps Keep Coming Back?
Your home has some appealing real estate.
Eaves, sheds, covered patios, and structural openings offer shelter for nesting. Outdoor food, open trash, and nearby insects can also attract foraging wasps.
Mango Mango looks at the species and the nesting activity before recommending treatment and prevention. If wasps are entering a wall or other enclosed space, don’t seal the opening while a nest may still be active inside.
