Small Pests. Big Interruptions.

A scratching dog. A tick after backyard play. Something jumping where nothing should be jumping. Fleas and ticks may be small, but they can quickly become hard to ignore.

Fleas can develop in carpets, pet bedding, furniture, and sheltered outdoor spaces. Ticks often wait in grass and brush for a passing person or animal. Pets and wildlife can bring either pest onto your property without much warning.

We start by inspecting the places where activity is happening—and the conditions helping it along. Then we build a treatment plan around your property. If pets are involved, we’ll recommend coordinating with your veterinarian so their care and your property treatment work together.

Common Fleas & Ticks in Central Texas

Cat Fleas

The name is a little misleading. Cat fleas are common on both cats and dogs. While adults feed on animals, their eggs can fall into bedding, carpets, furniture, and the outdoor spots where pets like to lounge.

Lone Star Ticks

These ticks favor grassy, brushy, and wooded areas. Adult females often have a distinctive light-colored spot on their backs. You may encounter them around overgrown yard edges and nearby natural areas.

American Dog Ticks

Often found in grassy areas and along trails, American dog ticks can attach to dogs, people, and other passing animals. Keeping an eye on yard edges and outdoor gathering spaces helps identify where activity may be coming from.

Brown Dog Ticks

Brown dog ticks primarily feed on dogs and can sometimes establish themselves indoors. They may hide near pet bedding, kennels, baseboards, and small cracks around your dog’s favorite resting spots.

Signs Fleas or Ticks Have Moved In

  • Pets scratching, licking, or biting themselves more than usual
  • Tiny insects jumping on carpets, furniture, or pet bedding
  • Dark, pepper-like specks in your pet’s coat or resting areas
  • Unexplained bites around ankles or lower legs
  • Ticks found on pets or family members after time outside
  • Fleas continuing to appear despite cleaning and washing bedding
  • Repeated tick sightings near grassy, shaded, or brushy areas

Why Do Fleas & Ticks Keep Coming Back?

Because the pests you see may be only part of the story.

Flea eggs and developing young can remain tucked away after adult activity drops. As they mature, another round of fleas may appear. Ticks can arrive again with pets, wildlife, and other animals passing through your yard.

Making progress takes a coordinated approach: treating the right areas, following cleaning and preparation instructions, and working with your veterinarian on pet protection. Mango Mango helps you understand what to expect, what to do between visits, and when follow-up treatment may be needed.
